Viden of The Wood Tale #1

Once upon a time in a land far away,
A man was walking in a dark and towering forest. Leaves and tree branches broke underfoot as he walked.
He kept hearing whispers coming from every direction, he soon found himself in the middle of spiders web!
A giant spider was coming toward him. As the spider got closer he leaped from the web, and killed the spider with one swift blow.
He continued his trek through the long dark woods of Hollowall. He found a little cottage, so he decided to go in and see if they could spare some water.
He knocked on the door, but there was no answer from within. He kicked to door in to find that the cottage had been trashed, and nobody was there.
He looked more thourouly and noticed that there were giant footprints everywhere. When he left the cottage he followed a trail of scuffmarks deeper into the forest.
He had walked for hours and found nothing. Suddenly there was a huge rumble. The ground shook with great force. Soon a giant ogre appeared.
The ogre wasn’t of the normal kind, this was an ogre mage, they have abnormally strong strength and they can cast simple spells. A battle was about to partake in the desolate woods.
Viden unsheathed his mighty sword of pure silver. He leaped at the towering ogre and thrust the sword deep into its leg. It roared with a sound so unbearable to the human ear, Viden got weekend but still held the sword stiffly in the ogre’s leg.
Viden pulled with all his might and dislodged his sword. The ogre swung at Viden, but missed. Viden Leaped onto the ogres back and swung his sword, leaving a huge gash in its head
The ogre chanted something in his language and a stream of fire swept down towards
Viden, he leap out of the way but not soon enough, the flames scorched his right leg.
Viden fell back in immense pain. The ogre was coming closer. Viden slowly got to his feet. And swore at the beast in his language of the wood. He picked his sword and made one final attempt to slay the beast. He swung his sword and slashes the ogre along the neck, the ogre stumbled around a little then fell to the ground, before he died he mumble something, but nothing happened... yet. Viden looked around cautiously. He knew that sound, it was calling its friends. Viden leaped from tree to tree as fast as he could to get out of the forest. The ogre’s family would be mad. Ungodly roars were echoing through the forest, they were moving at very high speeds, balls of fire were being launched at him from different directions. By trying to dodge the balls, he lost his balance and fell. He fell to the forest floor and began running again. The trees caught fire and tumbled to the ground. Virden dodged the trees and got out of the forest and breathed a sigh of relief. The ogres would not leave their forest; a magical force binds them to it. Viden made his way home to his cave in the wood. It was just another normal day to Viden of the wood

Viden Of The Wood Tale #2

Viden stood on the edge of the looming forest. The sun beat down on his body, causing him to sweat. Tales were told of this ancient forest. It was said to be inhabited by a most powerful creature, the Ignious Mage. This mage was said to be powerful and skilled in sorcery and spells. Viden wanted to prove this myth by slaying the powerful mage and bringing it's corpse to the town.
Viden took a step into the forest, and as he did he could hear the animals fleeing from his presence. As he treked on through the darkening forest he noticed that it was very quiet. Viden unsheathed his brilliant sword and looked around. He could see in the distance, a lone troll walking slowly. Trolls were very stupid creatures, but in packs they could be deadly. Viden took off, leaping over dead trees, and other debres. He hid behind a nearby tree and spied the troll resting on a fallen tree. This troll was carrying a large club. Viden watched as the troll sat there and picked bugs from his green skin. Viden decided it may be a good idea to dispose of this troll before it could report back to it's pack. Viden, with his sword still grasped firmly him his hand, leaped from behind the tree. The troll immiedietly stood to attention and raised his club in attack. Though Viden was tall at 6ft 2in, he was still dwarfed by this troll. Viden leaped into the air, and sliced his sword into the giants arm. His sword ripped through it's flesh. As it let out a cry of pain, Viden landed on the ground and watched as blood poured from the wound. The troll's club dropped to the ground with a lound bang which shook the forest floor. Viden rounded on the beast, and went in for the final attack. With all of his might he ran the troll through, his blade piercing flesh, organs, and coming out the other side. Viden twisted the sword, and the troll yelled out in pain, and fell to the ground. Trees shook and leaves fell to the ground. Blood oozed from the wound. The crimson blood poured onto the forest floor and stained the ground. Viden smirked and sheathed his sword.
Viden moved on, jumping over the troll's lifeless body. He soon came to two paths in the forest. Both had been shaped over the years by frequant use of various creatures. Viden decided to take the northern path which led deeper into the forest.
The ground was damp and a thick mist hung low over the forest and it was getting harder for him to see. The trees made a faint shadow which Viden used to keep on track. He had never been so deep into the forest before. He could create a small fire by using his energy, but it was too dangerous to do in the forest, He moved on, avoiding trees and other objects. He soon came into a wide clearing full of dead leaves and branches. He felt the air getting thicker, and the sky began to blacken. Something was coming.
Viden unsheathed his sword, and stood ready. From the dense foilege came a man. It was the mage. "Why have you come to my forest" barked the mage. Viden stood silent, his hand still grasped firmly on the hilt of his sword. The mage raised his hand and began to chant in the language of the mage people. A ball of burning fire grew steadily in his palm. Viden took action. A faint blue aura began to grow around his body growing in strenghth with every second. The mage let loose the burning ball of flames. As soon as it touched the aura it froze into a solid block of ice. The sphere fell to the ground and shattered into thousands of pieces. "Your magic is strong demon. You are of the ice element. The are not many ice demons left in this world. And there will be one less" The mage leaped into the air and landed hard on Viden, knocking him to the ground. The mage threw punch after punch into his torso. Viden managed to push him off and stand up, grabbing his sword. He swung his sword at the mage. The mage managed to dodge his swings, but was hit by one blow to the arm. The mage fell back, holding his arm as a thick yellow substance poured from his arm. The mage held his hand to the sky. It soon came alite with thunder and lighting. The sound pierced through out the forest. A single lighting bolt came down and struck the mage's out stretched hand. A small ball of electricity formed in his hand. "I know your weakness" He launched the electricity at him. It hit him in the chest throwing him back into the darkness. His sword flew through the air, and stuck into the side of a rotting tree. The mage laughed at his victory. Then from the darkness he saw a faint ball of light. It was blue, and shimmering. The intese light shone upon Viden's face. The ball grew with pulsing energy. The light was blinding and brilliant. Then the ball was released from Viden's grasp. It flew through the air with great speed, leaving a wake of blue energy in it's path. The ball struck the mage, going right through his chest. The mage fell to the ground, the thick yellow substance covering his body. Viden limped over to the rotting tree and pulled his sword from it's bark. He went to the mage, and dragged his body off into the darkness.

Viden Of The Wood Tale#3

The sky lit up as a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. Viden sat quietly in front of a blazing fire located at the mouth of a cave. Limestone covered the wall, and rock formations grew to the floor. Viden was meditating, channeling his energy. Drops of water dripped lightly from the high ceiling as rain continued to pour from the sky. Viden lay down to sleep. His sword, and daggers lay beside him at the ready.
The morning light gleamed in through the cave opening and shone on his face, awaking him from a deep sleep. Viden stretched his arms into the air and let out a loud yawn. He was refreshed and energized. Since he started meditating his energy level had gone up substantially. Viden formed a small ball of ice in his hand. It glowed with a vibrant blue energy. He threw it at the cave wall causing it to cave in. Viden snickered and stood up, sheathing his sword and daggers. It was time to for Viden to catch his breakfast.
Viden left the cave and made his way into his wood. The ground was damp, and the morning air chilled his bones. The tree branches were heavy with the newly fallen rain. After moving for about 15 minutes he spotted a deer drinking water from a nearby pond. Viden silently hid behind a large tree and pulled a dagger from his belt. Viden took aim and threw the dagger, puncturing it's heart and killing it instantly. The deer fell to the ground. Viden picked up the carcass and began the walk back to his home. As Viden walked he left a faint trail of deer blood behind him. Viden could hear strange noises coming from all around him. It sounded like something had fallen in the distance. The ground shook all about him and he dropped the deer. Viden took off running. He came to a thick gathering of trees to see a large tree had fallen. The trunk was charred and the limbs were lightly burning. Viden formed an ice ball in his palm and extinguished the flames quickly. There was a trail of fallen trees leading deep into the forest. Viden climbed into a tall tree and began to make his way from tree to tree to keep himself from being seen.
After traveling for about an hour the trees had gotten even thicker and more dense. It was getting hard to get into the larger trees. Viden leaped onto the bough of an old tree and glared down at the forest floor below. There wasn't much he could see, but obviously someone could see him. A fire ball came hurling at him, hitting the bough, causing it to collapse, sending him falling to the ground. Viden hit the ground hard. He grasped his side in pain. His left rib was broken. From behind a tree came something Viden hadn't seen in decades. A flame demon stepped from the shadows holding a large fire ball in his hand. The demon was clad in strong, golden armor, and carried a dagger ar his hilt. Viden got to his feet, and grabbed for his sword. "I wouldn't do that if i were you" Barked the demon. "You have quite a reputation. It ends now!" The demon let loose the fire ball, sending it right at Viden. Viden jumped out of the way and behind a tree. The ball struck a tree, causing it to burst into flames. Viden unsheathed his sword and confronted the demon. The demon came at him, punching him in the face. Viden fell back, dropping his sword. The demon pulled the dagger from his belt and jammed it deep into Viden's arm and pulled it out. Thick blood poured from the wound. Viden yelled in agony. The demon rounded on him and kicked him in the rib. The forest echoed with Viden's screams. The demon picked Viden up and threw him into an old tree. Viden slammed hard into the tree. The bark broke, and the tree collapsed. Viden hit the ground. Blood stained his clothes. The demon slowly approached him. Viden could not defend himself. Then Viden's hand touched something on the ground. It was his sword. The Demon bent over and grasped Viden's neck firmly. "You die now" The demon held a fiery ball of energy in his hand. Viden grabbed his sword in his hand and swung it into the air. The sword sliced through the armor and flesh. The demon fell the the ground. A huge slice was taken from his side and an immense amount of blood flowed from it. Viden got up, leaning on a tree for support. He took his sword and jammed it through the demon's skull. A large hole was left from the sword. Viden began the journey back to his home in the cave, badly wounded.

Viden of The Wood Tale #4

Viden sat with his back to the entrance to his cave. The light had faded from the day, and the sounds of the night could be heard. Viden cleaned his wounds from his previous battle. He had lost a lot of blood and he was very weak.
On the fire, sat a deer roasting in the flames. The smell consumed the cave, and Viden. Viden had soon finished the deer and turned in. As the night progressed it seemed to get darker and darker into morning. As the new day arrived it was pitch black. Nothing could be seen. Viden awoke, wondering what time it was. He sat up and looked around in confusion. In his hand he created a small ball of energy which lit up the cave in a brilliant flash of light blue. He stepped out of the cave and saw forest creatures running in all directions, running into each other, and trees. Viden looked up into the sky, but the sun, nor the moon were present. All light had been taken from the world. Without light, people, plants, they would all shrivel and die. Including Viden. Viden pulsed more energy into his light, and sped off into the woods.
Viden kept tripping as he ran, for little light was available. His ribs ached, and his arms were swollen with pain. His strength was wearing thin. Viden stopped and took cover under a tree. He had just been barely missed by a ball of electricity. Dozens of electric balls flew toward Viden. Trees crashed all around him in blazes of bright light. Viden looked behind him and there stood a sorcerer. "Your fast" yelled the sorcerer. Viden leaped into the air, and came down in front of him to slash him with his claws. By the time he landed he had disappeared. The sorcerer leaped from behind him, and knocked Viden to the ground. The ball of energy fell from his hand, and burst into brilliant light, and then all faded to darkness. Viden couldn't see anything without his light. Viden could feel a sharp object pierce into his leg. Viden fell to the ground in pain. Viden had forgotten his weapons in his cave. There wasn't much for him to do but get up. Viden got to his feet and looked around, seeing nothing. A swift blow to his jaw came from his left, and Viden spun around in pain. A kick to the back followed, sending him into a tree, or so he thought it was a tree. He could feel blood dripping from his head and body. His ribs felt like knives themselves. He got up, but was kicked down again. Viden grabbed hold of the tree, and shimmied up into it's boughs. He sat quietly, trying to concentrate enough energy to create a light. A small ball of blue energy formed in his hand. He saw that the sorcerer had made his way up the tree and was right in front of his face. He let the ball fly, hitting the sorcerer in the face. He was pushed out of the tree and landed on his back. Viden also heard the sorcerer crash from the tree, but he also heard something else. "Im blind!" he couldn't help but smile at this. They were on even playing fields. Viden got slowly to his feet. As he looked out into the nothingness a huge ball of energy erupted from the darkness. It lit the sorcerers face, and the entire forest. His face was old and worn, and his long, gray hair fell across his face. His eyes were red, and filled with fire. Viden could not dodge this attack. The sorcerer let the energy go. The ball hit Viden, sending him flying back a few feet into the forest. He hit trees, and bushes, and finally came to a halt, landing in what seemed to be a ditch filled with leaves and dead tree branches. Viden could not keep consciences. He heard the sound of the sorcerer moving farther into the forest, lagging as he went. Viden could not stay conscience any longer ,and fainted. Viden was still alive, but for how long? TO BE CONTINUED...

Viden of The Wood Tale #5

The forest lay silent. No sounds could be heard anywhere. The wind was dead, and the forest creatures had abandoned it. Only two things remained, an evil sorcerer, and the fate of the world. Viden's forest had been abandoned. All light had faded from the world, and everything has been thrown into chaos. Without light to sustain life, the planet would be doomed. People scurried around blindly, knowing nothing of what had befallen them.
The sorcerer arrived at his lair, deep within a labyrinth, filled with ancient weapons, and artifacts. This cave however was different from the rest of the world. The cave shone with a faint light. The sorcerer sat down on a wooden chair, and put his hands to his eyes. They were bleeding, and badly burned. He held his hands over his eyes. A small black light emitted from his hands. When he removed his hands his eyes were healed. His eyes were now black, and full of hatred. He let out a yell that echoed throughout the entire forest. "I will not let you live, Viden of the wood" He stormed out of the cave, grabbing a golden long sword.
A man wandered through the forest aimlessly. He was searching for the one known as Viden. He had heard tales of him, and his forest as he grew up. He was always an outcast from birth. He was found abandoned in a house. His parents took him and raised him. He displayed mystical powers, which frightened the other children. He was not very old, but he decided to venture into Viden's wood so he could find Viden himself and unlock his powers. In his hand he carried a small, glimmering ball of light which guided the way. He came to a dense area of the forest, which looked strange. The trees were scorched, and broken, and blood covered the ground. He stopped and took a look around. On the ground he saw the form of a body laying, motionless on the ground. He kneeled down, and uncovered the body. He put his hand on his face. "Oh no, how can Viden be dead?" Suddenly a golden light cane from his hand and into Viden. Viden awoke with a start, and pushed the boy off of him. He stood up, and charged an ice ball in his hand, and stared at the boy. "Viden, wait! My name is Barahd, i want you to help me. Barahd told him his story. Viden banished the ice ball. He made a waving motion with his hand, and began to walk through the forest.
Viden and Barahd made their way through the darkened woods and to Viden's cave. Barahd looked around cautiously before entering and stepped inside. Once inside he began to make a fire. While he was working with the fire Viden located his sword and daggers. His sword now gave off a glow of silver which pierced the darkness and light up the cave. As soon as he sheathed it the light was extinguished. Soon a fire was burning brightly in the center of the cold cave. Flames licked Viden's chilled bones. "So your Viden" Said Barahd. Viden sat silent, staring into the flames, contemplating his battle. As the sorcerer walked trees fell in his path. Even the forest could be bent to this evil man's will. He sniffed in the air, searching for his enemy. He unsheathed his sword and swung it with great force at a large oak tree. The tree collapsed and quaked the entire forest. The sorcerer went on.
The cave floor shook violently. Barahd ran out of the cave and into the forest. Viden unsheathed his sword and ran after him. The glow from his sword lit the way. Trees were struck to the ground from some unknown force. However he could guess who did this. Viden took off into a run, getting farther away from Barahd.
Barahd had taken another path, leading away from Viden. A faint ball of energy glowed in his hand, and sweat dripped from his body. He was not used to exerting himself this much. He noticed that the trees had been felled and dead animals littered the ground. He took and a deep breath, and let in the forest air. He was not alone. Behind him stood the sorcerer. In his hands was grasped his sword. He swung the sword, landing a shot on Barahd's shoulder. He fell to the ground screaming in pain. He was losing a lot of blood for the wound was deep. The sorcerer kicked him in the ribs, breaking them. Barahd yelled in immense pain. The sorcerer took up his sword, and drove it deep into his leg. "I only wish for you to suffer. All of mankind will die, and i will be all that is left!" He ripped the sword out, and licked the blood from his sword. Small tears dripped from Barahd's eyes. He thought he was dying. He was seeing things. A strange silver light glowed within the depths of the forest. It grew in strength as it moved closed. The sorcerer raised his sword into the air. Barahd lost consciences, but not his life.
Barahd came to, looking around. Above him stood Viden, and behind him, the sorcerer, with a huge sword wound in his chest. Barahd noticed something else. Birds, he could hear birds in the distance. And on his face he could feel the sun. His wounds had been bandaged, and the bleeding had stopped. Viden reached his hand down to Barahd. Barahd looked up into his eyes, and smiled, and he could swear he saw a faint one beaming back at him. Viden and Barahd disappeared into the forest having returned the sun to the world, and life to the forest.
